Digital Machine Knitting – Fall 2023
Final Course Project: Design and execute logistic activities for cohesive knitwear pieces.
Deliverables: Flats, Tech Packs, and Programmed Swatches
As a student in The Fashion School at Kent State, I am lucky enough to have access to four Stoll knitting machines. This past semester, I took a digital machine knitting elective. In this class, I learned how to use both Stoll software programs (M1+ and Create+) and how to use and knit on the machines themselves. I programed and knitted on the CMS ADF 3 (7.2 gauge) and the CMS 520 machines, the difference being the number of needles and the CPI/NPI. Students were challenged to try new designs and techniques while thinking like a knitwear designer.
